Duties of the County CommissionThe Constitution of the State of West Virginia outlines the duties performed by the office of the County Commission (Section 11, Article 9). Other duties and responsibilities are specified in Chapter 7 of the West Virginia Code. These include but are not limited to:1. Custodian of all deeds and other papers presented for recorded in the county2. Administration of internal police and fiscal affairs of the county3. Authority to lay and disburse county levies as prescribed by law4. Judge of election, qualification, canvass and return of all county and district offices5. Preparation and adoption of budget for all county offices6. Jurisdiction in all matter of probate7. Appoint guardians for minor children, receive court settlements generally8. Own and maintain county property9. Sit as Board of Equalization and Review to hear appeals on property values for assessment purposes10. Appoint Fiduciary Commissioners to oversee and settle certain estates as required.11. Appoint member of certain county boards, authorities and public service districts12. Adopt ordinances and orders in areas of jurisdiction13. Approve purchases and payments for all county elected officials.
The County Commission holds its regular meetings at 9:00am the first and third Wednesday of each month. The meeting is held in the Webster County Commission Room located on the first floor of the Webster County Courthouse 2 Court Square Webster Springs, WV 26288Special and Emergency meetings may be called as needed, and the times and locations of these meetings will be posted on the web-site on the County Commission page along with being posted on the door to the Webster County Courthouse. If you wish to be placed on the agenda please contact he Webster County Clerk’s office the Friday before the next scheduled meeting by noon. Minutes of the Commission meetings will be posted to this web-site after they are approved by the County Commission. You may also obtain minutes from previous county commission meetings by contacting the Webster County Clerk’s office.
The Webster County Commission meets the 1st & 3rd Wednesday of every month.

The cut-off time for being placed on the agenda is the Friday before the scheduled meeting at 12:00 noon.
